The VAMU mixed-use project is inspired by the form and material of its eclectic context, Eden Gardens, in Solana Beach, Ca. Eden Gardens is a mix of authentic Mexican restaurants, industrial, commercial and residential uses. The 9,000 s.f. building houses a 2-story office building with an expansive roof deck and 4 townhome style residential apartment units. Upon issuance of occupancy, the owner is anticipating a SILVER LEED certification. Some of the measures utilized to achieve LEED certification are: Permeable concrete pavers, solar collection panels on the roofs, low voc paints, LEED accredited finishes such as carpet, floor tile composed of recycled material, SIPS panel system, high efficiency tankless water heaters, etc.
